Choose your starting point
For a first visit, keep the afternoon centered on the shopping district and the nearby gardens. That makes it easier to combine a recognizable Beverly Hills landmark, a look at the storefronts and a relaxed break without spending the whole visit moving between destinations.
The Beverly Hills Visitor Center is at 9400 South Santa Monica Boulevard, Suite 102. Its published hours are 10 a.m.–5 p.m. daily, and it offers complimentary visitor assistance. Use it for a current map or advice that depends on the day of your visit.
Build a compact afternoon
Open this downtown walking route in Google MapsThe sign → Anderton Court on Rodeo Drive → Two Rodeo → Beverly Cañon Gardens. Adjust the stops to suit your visit.
Start with the sign and lily pond
The Beverly Hills sign sits in Beverly Gardens Park on the block between North Beverly Drive and North Cañon Drive, along Santa Monica Boulevard. The visitor bureau’s landmark guide confirms the location and free public access. Make this a short first stop if shopping or lunch is your priority; leave more time if you want to continue through the park.
Give Rodeo Drive one unhurried stretch
Head into the retail district for a look at the architecture and window displays. The Rodeo Drive Committee describes a core of three shopping blocks. Pick one or two boutiques you want to visit rather than treating every storefront as a stop. Our Rodeo Drive guide explains the landmarks and how to plan around shopping appointments.
Leave room for a garden break
Beverly Cañon Gardens, at 241 North Cañon Drive, has public outdoor dining areas, water features and walkways connecting Beverly and Cañon Drives. It is a useful place to pause between your next stops. It is a separate garden from the larger Beverly Gardens Park.
Make it your kind of visit
If you came for fashion
Use the sign as your opening stop, then spend most of your time on Rodeo Drive. Confirm the hours and appointment policy of any boutique you are traveling specifically to visit.
If you came for photos and art
Spend more of the afternoon in Beverly Gardens Park and take a shorter pass through the shopping district. Our parks and public art guide helps distinguish the places and links to the city’s artwork map.
If the meal is the occasion
Build the route around your reservation. Check the restaurant’s own menu, service times and booking page, then add the other stops on either side. Read recent Beverly Hills dining coverage for openings and restaurant news.
Before you leave
Pick a parking facility near the part of the district where you will spend the most time. The city’s parking directory lists garage locations and current guidance. Some facilities offer free periods, but those terms differ; the city notes that free periods apply only to the first entry of the day. Our Beverly Hills parking guide compares several central garages. Read the entrance signs and check closing times before leaving your car.
This is a suggested sequence, not a timed or accessibility-audited walking tour. Set your own pace, use signed crossings and check a live map for the exact route. If steps, slopes, heat or long stretches on foot affect your plans, select fewer stops and ask the Visitor Center about the specific locations you want to reach.
A few useful answers
Can I enjoy the area without shopping?
Yes. The sign, public gardens and a walk through the retail district can form the visit. Treat meals, parking, purchases and any separately ticketed activities as their own budget decisions.
Should I add Greystone Mansion?
Make it a separate outing or an intentional extra stop. It is not one of the compact downtown stops in this route. Check the Greystone planning notes before adding it.
Where do I check what is happening today?
Start with recent local headlines, then confirm the event date and admission details with the organizer. A newly published article can discuss a past event.
