Choose the right green space
The similar names can make planning confusing. Beverly Gardens Park is the long park along Santa Monica Boulevard. Beverly Cañon Gardens is a smaller garden in the business district. Greystone is a hillside estate with its own arrival plan and visiting arrangements.
| Place | A reason to choose it | Plan around |
|---|---|---|
| Beverly Gardens Park | The city sign, a walk and outdoor art | Which section you want to explore |
| Beverly Cañon Gardens | A garden pause between downtown stops | Your nearby meal or shopping plans |
| Greystone | Estate gardens and historic surroundings | Opening hours and separate interior programs |
Beverly Gardens Park
The visitor bureau’s park listing describes a 1.9-mile linear park along Santa Monica Boulevard, with specialty gardens, fountains, sculpture and a walking path. Its length matters: seeing the sign and walking the entire park are different plans.
For a short visit, choose the sign and lily pond area, then explore nearby works of art. For a longer walk, use the city’s map to select a few destinations instead of trying to stop at everything. The visitor bureau also identifies accessible public restrooms near North Cañon Drive and the Peace & Love sculpture.
Beverly Cañon Gardens
At 241 North Cañon Drive, this public garden links Beverly and Cañon Drives through colonnaded walkways. Water features and outdoor dining areas make it a useful break in a downtown itinerary.
Choose it when your main plans are already in the shopping and dining district. It can complement a meal or a pass through the boutiques without turning the day into a separate garden excursion. Check the city’s current event listings if you are visiting for a performance rather than for the space itself.
Greystone Mansion & Gardens
The city identifies Greystone as a historic estate completed in 1928 and later dedicated as a public park. Its entrance is at 905 Loma Vista Drive. Plan it as a distinct stop rather than assuming it is next to the downtown shopping blocks.
As checked on September 18, 2026, the official visiting page lists grounds hours of 10 a.m.–6 p.m., with a 5 p.m. winter closing, and closures on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. Grounds admission and parking are free; no grounds reservation is required. Mansion programs and special events are separate and may require paid reservations.
The site has areas with limited disability access. Check the city’s visiting information before arranging an accessibility-dependent visit. The same page explains photography, pet and picnic restrictions, so consult it if those are part of your plans.
Build an art-focused visit
The City Fine Art Program links to an interactive public art map. Use it to choose works by location rather than relying on a single long list. A few pieces near one another can make a more satisfying outing than a route that spends most of its time between stops.
The visitor bureau’s public art overview identifies works in Beverly Gardens Park including Jaume Plensa’s Endless V, Roxy Paine’s Erratic and Barry Flanagan’s The Drummer. Look up the work and its artist before you arrive, then spend time with the piece itself instead of treating it only as a photo marker.
For a mixed afternoon, choose an art stop, one garden and a meal. For a dedicated art visit, group your choices by neighborhood and allow time to read the labels. These are planning suggestions, not a promise that every installation is accessible during maintenance or special events.
Before you go
Does free entry include every activity?
No. A public garden or free grounds visit can still host ticketed programs. At Greystone in particular, check the distinction between visiting the grounds and entering the mansion.
Can I use the gardens for a photo shoot?
Check the venue’s policy first. A casual visitor photo and an organized, posed or commercial shoot may be treated differently. Greystone’s official visitor page links to its permit information.
Where can I find current events?
Read local news and events coverage, then follow the original organizer for dates and tickets. Our first-visit guide helps combine downtown stops when there is no particular event on your schedule.
